Our Story

I (Lana) grew up in the midwest and the beginnings of my intolerance for poor-performing, good-ol-boy norms sprouted up from personal experiences. I have always been fueled by solving problems and empowering others. I worked in traditional economic development focused primarily on manufacturing and agriculture for ten years before transitioning to entrepreneurial ecosystem building. Since then, I’ve worked on three continents with hundreds of businesses, educational organizations, governments and entrepreneurs to expedite change. I love discovering root problems/opportunities and working for strategic and long-lasting, holistic change.

Mitchell Robertson, my husband and partner in LevelUp Economy and in all things, has spent his career building and growing companies that bring about systemic change. Throughout his childhood, he witnessed firsthand how economic and social barriers can cause generational poverty and stagnant economies. This experience not only gave him great determination to change his own life, it also gave him the motivation to build businesses that remove these barriers for others. He has worked in private business within multiple industry sectors across the U.S., Middle-East, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Africa and Europe to bring innovation, economic growth and sustainability to local communities.

When we aren’t working — and when we can incorporate one or more of these into our work — we are traveling, enjoying music, running for fun and competition, and exploring local food/drink and the outdoors. Check out the World Food Tour we went on via cooking during our COVID-19 quarantine. Click each location to see the food we made and let us know if you’d like recipe notes!

Team

Becca Van Cleave contributes to LevelUp growth and research, and her authenticity shines through as she communicates working to ensure top-quality outcomes and personal care. Becca and I (Lana) originally met in Lincoln, Nebraska where Becca joined my team running an innovation hub, supporting entrepreneurs and remote work customers, building a cohesive and thriving startup ecosystem.

Becca is a fellow long-distance runner, and we have kept each other company during many miles while training for marathons. Now that we live across the U.S. from each other, we team up on another shared passion: helping others achieve growth and make a positive impact in their lives and in their organizations.

Monica Price is the founder of BeSpace Consulting and together with Lana, built A New Way of Working. In this program series, we invite participants to join us on the journey to do more than fulfill our obligations, even in times of struggle and transition. A New Way of Working was born out of the need for engaging with more responsiveness and more authenticity in our marketplace, and it equips individuals to thrive and to compassionately lead empowering others to do so as well. Monica and I formed our relationship after meeting through work supporting the development of the Southwest Florida Foundation’s Collaboratory in 2018. We became fast friends after I moved to Seattle where both of our businesses are now based, and we began our own collaboration in response to consulting requests I was receiving in 2020 just as the COVID-19 pandemic began.
